i am the mother to a teenager and other laughs for your weekend

+Craig has been traveling to various job fairs the past couple of weeks in search of new employees. (He'll be gone 17 more days in the next 6 weeks.) This means I get the pleasure of dropping Liam off at daycare. In order to make this work, I get up a half-hour earlier, and Liam has to get up at least an hour before his usual wake up. On Tuesday morning, he buried his head in the covers and yelled, "Mommy! Night, night! Mommy! Night, night!" His reluctance to wake up is slightly reminiscent of my sixteen-year-old antics.

+In other teenage-related antics, Liam has taken to calling me Amber. Craig was yelling for me one night, and Liam chimed in "Amber! Amber!" Of course our laughter made it a regular thing. I am working on letting him know that it doesn't matter if he's 20 months or 20 years old, I am Mommy.

+I suppose that Amber is better than Dora, though. This weekend, Craig was showing Liam our wedding picture. As Craig pointed, Liam identified Daddy, Baby, and Dora.

+ In addition to his early morning tantrums, Liam has started getting increasingly picky about his clothes. When I try to get him to wear cute button ups, he says, "Nope." Anything with a truck or a snowboarding bear or a cartoon character is perfectly acceptable, though. The other night, he insisted on wearing his Snoopy pajama top with his Batman pajama pants. It didn't matter how hard I tried to convince him that the Batman top went with the Batman bottoms, he was not having it. So, off to bed in Snoopy and Batman he went.

+Finally, this:

He did this on his own. It reminds me that no matter how trying his antics can be, he brings a smile to my face equally as often.

  1. Aw I love it! Little ones are so funny in that teenage stage, as long as you're just watching someone else deal with it and not dealing with it yourself! ;]
